Annual Women's Retreat - Jan 26-28, 2018
"Yes And Spirituality - Making Rules, Breaking Rules, and Practising Possibility"
This year’s Women’s Retreat will be led by Lindsey Turner, Associate Minister at Union. Our theme of ‘Yes And’ Spirituality – Making the Rules, Breaking the Rules, and Practicing Possibility will take us on a weekend journey in the Pocono Mountain foothills at the Tuscarora Inn and Conference Center.
We are women made in the image of a lavish and expansive God – we have power untold and untapped and we are stronger together. Join us for a weekend of personal and communal exploration of ‘Yes And’: discern and dispel those inner voices that hold us back; reclaim our personal agency; reconnect with our playfulness and creativity; and support each other with kind and constructive communication.
Our program will include large group discussions, smaller group interaction, and personal moments of reflection as well as ample free time for camaraderie, exercise, and relaxation. We extend a warm welcome to our transgender sisters, high school seniors and college women in the area.
We will convene late Friday afternoon for non-alcoholic drinks and dinner and go home with a snack bag on Sunday, around noon, after the morning service.
Lindsey Turner, Associate Minister at Union Congregational Church, earned her Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary in New York City. During her time there, Lindsey produced groundbreaking spiritual and biblical theatric-liturgical performances, winning the Robert Seaver Award for Worship and the Arts upon graduation. She is currently working on a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education to better serve people in crisis. Prior to her call to ministry, Lindsey worked for the Obama administration in Washington, D.C.
She is enamored with her spouse AJ and their two rescued dogs, Bella Rose and Gilead. She finds that singing, cooking, and hiking help keep her grounded.
