Praising God Through Song
Music is a big part of who we are. The Sanctuary Choir is here each Sunday morning at the 10 AM service. The Children’s Choir and Youth Choir also share their talents once a month or so. Bell Choirs also enhance our worship a few times a year with the UCC Ringers, an adult choir, and the Key of C, our youth choir. Solos and small ensembles also spring up under the guidance of our Music Director. We are fortunate to have talented congregants willing to share what God has blessed them with. Jazz, gospel, and traditional hymns are sung during the worship service.

In the United States, Carmina Burana represents one of the few box office certainties in 20th Century repertoire. No other work has appeared in as many films and television commercials, and it is well established as part of the international classic repertoire.
The text dates from the 11th or 12th century, mostly in Latin verse, with some Middle High German and Medieval French, written by a band of poet-musicians comprising scholars and theology students. It covers a wide range of topics, the fickleness of fortune and wealth, the ephemeral nature of life, the joy of the return of spring, and the pleasures and perils of drinking, gluttony, gambling, and lust.
Rhythm is the primary musical element, with constant and complex rhythmic changes, combined with melodies influenced by composers from the late Renaissance and early Baroque periods, and straightforward harmonies devoid of any complexity. This creates a unique musical tapestry and is one of the reasons that it remains such a popular work today.
